Birds of prey
Meat-eating hunters such as kestrels,
eagles, and owls have excellent
eyesight and long legs with talons
for catching prey. They use their
strong, hooked beaks to tear prey
apart. Owls are usually nocturnal.
These silent predators have excellent
night vision, hooked beaks, and
sharp talons.
Shorebirds
This large group includes gulls,
terns, puffins, and guillemots.
They live on coasts, marshland,
and mud flats.
Game birds
Pheasants, partridges, and quails
are all game birds. They spend most
of the time on the ground, but take
to the air when in danger.
